i scream

another super cute thing happened yesterday. a young woman was passing by the shop, licking a strawberry ice-cream cone. she excitedly walked in and with her french accent asked me 'could i take a picture of your little table and chairs outside? they are so cute'. i told her of course she could and she stood outside absolutely enthralled in capturing the empty seats.
she thanked me, and walked away. i walked outside a few minutes later and noticed something funny on the sidewalk--a puddle of pink. she had been so wrapped up in her photo she had dripped her ice-cream all over the sidewalk. i giggled.

yesterday a nice boy came in as i was listening to cocorosie (who have a great new track posted on that link). he told me he'd seen them live in new york once playing with antony and the johnsons, whom he highly recommended. we discussed the link between cocorosie and bruce labruce, as well as antony and the johnsons' link to candy darling. i listened to a few of the tracks this nice boy recommended , and fell in love! [with the music--and a little bit with the boy]

Hi!

This is my first post  and I'm kind of excited!

Some of the Ampersand folk went to Halifax a couple weeks ago and I have pictures!

Me and Michael went up separately  and met up with everyone else. 

Michael was an awesome driver!

Before we got on the bridge and after McDonalds We stopped of at Fabricville for some fabric.

After the bridge we stopped to hang out and play with fabric!

I took a picture too.

PIT STOP. 

by that I mean we were so low on gas we had to get some.

Michael had a cigarette while I took pictures.

We got into Halifax, met up with everybody and did some stuff.

The next day for breakfast we went to a cafe place and ate lunch in a grassy area.

Then we shopped and parted ways. Me, Michael and Matthew in one car and everyone else packed into a minivan. 

We stopped of in Truro we were made some friends.

We went to Murphy Fish and Chips were we phoned the others to see what was up.

They were in Truro as well so we all had supper together!

This was across the street. I took it as we were loading up the cars.

We ended up taking all the kids with us and the older folk went in the minivan.

We all met up in Port Elgin where we had a picnic of hummus, bread, pickles and Baby Bell cheese. 

After supper we had foot races, wheelbarrow races, piggy back races and just fooled around

Then we packed up went home and enjoy the rest of our night.

i have been ignoring our dear blog lately--i'm sorry!

natasha has her painting upstairs for the next few days--they're great. she had her opening the same night as our circus party, which was so much fun! everyone did great jobs with their costumes, and the shop was transformed into a discotheque-extraordinaire. natasha did body painting, it was magical.

coming up in our lives: bryce elsley's exhibit is this friday! @ 6 o'clock.
we're hosting a show this saturday as a part of matt dixon's three day music fest of awesome. 2-5. a record swap on sunday, also with matt's HFF fest.

Yesterday, after a late night chat at Baba's, our Matthew brought the wonderful Matthew Barber to the cafe to play a cozy upstairs show. The ampersand extended family and others who luckily wandered in off the street assembled upstairs on the old lady couch and on the floor to hear him.

Matthew sat in front of us, played his guitar and sang; pulling our heartstrings maybe even more than Daniel Ledwell did. I asked him to play Settle My Accounts, which he did, and my friend MC took a video of it...I'll post it soon, i promise!

Today there's been lots of coffee and tea with friends on the front step, it's a nice way to spend a quiet sunday.

i had such a great day. tristan, megan and i went on a bicycle ride together.
it was magic. soon we're having a critical mass! we'll have lots of people biking down the streets together.. if you're reading this and interested get in touch!

anyway, today i had a great visitor come to the cafe! my friend natalie came by and dropped of some wonderful clothes made by another friend of mine pamela underwater. she brought some awesome dresses, skirts, jackets, and even some home-made, recycled & hand bound notebooks for us to sell at the shop! come check it out, guys. !!

a short update: we had our potluck on sunday, which was a wonderful success. mikaela and madeleine played, followed by simon, and then daniel ledwell finished ! tons of yommmyyy food, and nice people. i think every girl was in love with daniel; afterwards he had a lot of lady help choosing out some t-shirts...


in other news we've decided to start using Just Us! coffee. Canada's first fair trade, organic coffee roasters! roasted in nova scotia, come have some..it's delicciouus.

hiya, this week-end was fun! we were drunk like everyone else.. and magically a dance party erupted in the middle of the store to THEM JEANS discobelle mix vol 1.(download it!)

mr. sign isn't looking to good today because the rain's coming down faster than the walls of jerico.

but other than that it's a great day, last night we had our first movie night and it went over well. 

people brough blankets, pillows, couch surfers and colouring books, it was a really fun night and next thursday can't come soon enough! if you have a movie you need to watch with a bunch of scruffy people, leave it in the comments.
