good things in the life of &
- We now have Monin syrups. Flavoured coffees and italian sodas galore!
- Matthew is home in 8 days! The Ampersand familie reunited!
- Mount Eerie and Calvin Johnson was the best show we have ever hosted at Ampersand. I took photos and thought I was recording it for the people who missed out, but it turned out my microphone was not working. I'm sorry friends. It was magical though, just take my word for it. Afterwards we hung out downstairs and ate Jeff'm's lemon squares together.
- Amperband has its first practice tomorrow!
- Kirk Avery has nice stuff on the walls now...August is a very busy month for the gallery, so make sure you come visit every friday. Openings! (This means free food and drinks for you wine+cheese crashers out there.)
- Chris is filled with good ideas...we're gonna have a friend appreciation party. Details to follow.

"i've signed the cast on your broken heart, and it will mend speedy fast"
we had happy sappy times in Sackville all weekend but now Team & is back to inject some extra awesome into your muggy monday.
intrigued?
Tonight, at 8pm, we are having a truly amazing show, perhaps one of the greatest this city will see this summer.
MOUNT EERIE (washington)
who released one of last year's best albums, Lost Wisdom with Julie Doiron and Fred Squires. Mount Eerie = the new moniker of the now-finished Microphones. Just so you know.

and
CALVIN JOHNSON (washington)
formerly of Beat Happening
This guy puts on one heck of a show. He dazzled us at Sappyfest and now we get to sit in his beautiful presence under the glowing upstairs lights.

Tonight is going to be amazing, you're gonna love it, we'll all have a good time.
A fiver will get you in the door.
None of us have had much sleep but we are being real productive and drinking lots of coffee so we can soak up all the wonder of tonight before we crash into our beds, finally.

friday fun
this is tonight y'all, I suggest you come on down.
the bands:
Shotgun Jimmie + construction & destruction + bloodsport + local loves New Royalty and the Barnkats.
it's only a fiver for all that good music and fun too!
In the meantime, why don't you come over and have coffee with me? We can think of witty things to write on the chalkboards and get caffeinated in order to dance the night away.
Today's chalkboard has a toothpastefordinner theme...
yes, you know you want to.

Art Opening! wheeeeeee
Tomorrow, at 7pm, is the opening of our dearest Laura Stewart's art show,
it happened again.
I suggest you all come along to say hi, see her paintings, photos and other surprises and eat peanut butter cups and sweet things. All your friends will be there (except me, cause I have to work at my other job, arrrrg!) and maybe you'll meet some lovely new people as well.
It's always a party at Ampersand, and there's nothing like a peanut-butter-and-chocolatey-art-party!
Right now: hulling a gazillion pounds of strawberries at the cafe...this is not part of my regular duties, help please?!

TONIGHT!!
Cafe Ampersand presents the newest addition to the Arts and Crafts music label,
Timber Timbre tonight!
Timber Timbre plays haunting and ghostly yet foot-tapping and head-bopping folk music. Recently signed to the Arts and Crafts music label (Feist, Constantines, Stars), this will probably be the last time you'll get to see this act in such a small venue.
www.myspace.com/timbertimbre
The Weather Station is equally as haunting. With subtle, engaging songs and a beautiful, ethereal voice, you may just be put in a trance . . .
www.myspace.com/theweatherstationband
Andy Swan recently moved to PEI from Ontario, and we're glad he did. Sounds kinda like 70's-influenced country folk.
www.myspace.com/andyswanmusic
Show starts at 7pm with Andy - $5 at the door
Limited seating - arrive early!
